Old school and new tools on display in a two-video mashup
This video is a compilation of two videos showing how plywood is made. The first video is from the Pacific Northwest in the 1950's, where large Douglas firs are felled and dumped into the river—to move them and to soften the wood before milling.
The second video, which begins at about the five-minute mark, shows how to manufacture Baltic Birch plywood in 2016 in Finland. The main difference: smaller logs, fewer people, faster machines.
