A bright idea for full-size truck owners
Weather Guard is the first to pull off an out-of-the-box lighted truck box, and it's clear the production team put a lot of thought into the design. It has a better fit, finish, and function than many first-generation products we see.

A closer look
Full-size truck owners now have an LED option for their next truck box thanks to the new Weather Guard Lighted Truck Box. The model 127 box is aluminum construction and has six banks of LEDs that produce 600 lumens. The light is angled downward into the toolbox for a shadow-free visual experience.
The lights come on as soon as the lid is lifted and shut off when closed. Weather Guard also offers upgrade kits for their existing truck boxes.
Installs in about a half hour
Rubber pads lay atop the bed to protect the paint. Two hooks per side secure the box to the bed of the truck. The additional hooks securely anchor the box to the truck for fastening heavy loads.
Weather Guard ships you the appropriate wiring harness for your truck after you tell them which one you need. You can run power from either the fusebox or the trailer hitch. In this video, they choose the hitch because it "seems less complicated."
The harness intercepts the hitch wiring and runs along the frame toward the front and then snakes up between the bed and the cab. There's a knockout you'll need to cut and grommet before connecting the box wiring to the harness. Tuck the wire away, and you're done.

Other upsides
- The sliding organizer is adjustable and clips into place to prevent sliding.
- Tamper-resistant lock retracts when locked.
- Two heavy-duty D-rings provide solid anchorage for heavy loads (why there are two anchoring points on each side of the box).
Downsides
- ProToolReviews notes that the lid "seemed a little tough to close" and they attribute it to the weather seals needing a little time to develop their 'Homer Simpson groove' (my words, not theirs).
- Only fits full-size trucks not mid or small.
