Welcome to Benjamin Obdyke. Today we're going to be discussing the advantages of the first-ever self-adhered drainable house wrap Hydrogap SA.
Building codes and practices continue to push for higher insulation values and airtightness. This makes moisture management more critical.
Hydrogap SA is a perfect complement behind rigid exterior foam, as the one-millimeter spacer allows for a drainage path for any moisture to safely escape the assembly. The continuous acrylic adhesive is repositionable during installation, which allows for maximum contact with the sheathing.
This prevents moisture from getting behind the WRB. Any fastener that penetrates the WRB when we're using our cladding or exterior foam self-seals around those fastening points allows for a true air barrier and is vital to the current blower door standards that we're building to today.
Even with the continuous adhesive Hydrogap SA has a vapor permeance of 12. This ensures that water vapor will escape the assembly when integrated with a liquid-applied flashing like Hydroflash LA, we are creating a monolithic seal around the rough opening, and this continues our air barrier into the window assembly.
This detail greatly reduces the risk of water and air from entering the building envelope.
Thank you for joining us at Benjamin Obdyke, where we strive to help you build better.
